Stoke-on-Trent print company aim to double turnover with Chinese Press

During the first quarter of 2009 a printing company in Stoke-on-Trent aimed to double its turnover by the summer. Staffordshire Printing invested in a new Chinese Sanxin YK522 printing press, which greatly boosted their two colour press capacity. Sanxin was acquired by Chinese press manufacturer Hans-Gronhi earlier in the year and are looking to establish a much more global presence.

Staffordshire Printing employs five staff. They worked out a good deal with UK supplier, Printers Superstore, which included a used DPX CTP system. The main reasons for choosing the Chinese Press were high specifications and competitive pricing. MD Ken Beresford said:
You could put it alongside anything else on the market and it wouldn’t look out of place and in some respects it is better.

Staffordshire Printing describes themselves as general jobbing printers. They say they also handle some prestigious colour work but the main contribution comes from one and two colour Stationery work. Clearly, the Sanxin two colour press seems to be the right one for them. According to MD Ken Beresford demand is still out there and it’s about working hard and staying competitive; a sentiment that other Print companies in Stoke-on-Trent will no doubt agree with. Just shortly after installing the new press Mr. Beresford said:
The Sanxin press is already helping us bring in new work.

This is an encouraging story in the current tough business climate which could encourage other print companies in Stoke-on-Trent to become even more determined to succeed.
