The price of office space in Stoke-on-Trent is about a third of that being charged in cities like Manchester. As the Potteries enjoy excellent transport infrastructure, there may be many firms interested in the location in the future. Jack Brereton, a councillor who has a responsibility for promoting regeneration within the boundaries of the local authority, told the Stoke Sentinel:
"With Smithfield, that brought Water Plus, a different kind of business, into the city and created 600 jobs. We need to see more of that. Birmingham and Manchester are getting full, so we are attracting more businesses here. We've got a good offering.”
Councillor Brereton said that two types of business would appreciate what Stoke-on-Trent can offer. He explained that established organisations could be seeking to limit their overheads. He also drew attention to the fact that start-ups are frequently looking for cheap accommodation.
Local MP Robert Flello stated that Stoke-on-Trent should promote what it has to offer at national level. Currently the office space in the area is cheaper than what Peterborough and Bradford can provide.
