The aim is to give local people a chance to discover more about writing and to encourage people to embrace reading. While Trollope is probably the best-known author scheduled to appear, others include eminent historian David Starkey, and writer and illustrator of the Charlie and Lola Books, Lauren Child. They will be there for question and answer sessions, allowing readers to gain a greater insight into the creative process.
In addition to this, the winners of the Too Write Stoke creative writing challenge will also be announced during the festival, with categories for under-11s, under-18s and adults.
Stewart Collins, the Festival Director, said:
“It’s very exciting news that we will be hosting a festival in Stoke on Trent. A literary festival is a place for discovery with great authors and great ideas and I am sure that this is what the festival goers will enjoy most.”
