A quintet of bass-led bands will raise the roof of a local venue in the Leek Ska Festival 2019.
The event will be held at the Foxlowe Arts Centre in the market town of Leek just outside Stoke-on-Trent. The line-up for the evening will feature The Skalinskis, The Chalk Outlines, Mummyfunk, Roots to Nowhere and Splitters. Events like this can take advantage of local printing services for promotional material advertising the artists performing.
The Skalinskis began in 1999, and play a unique combination of ska and dub with an Eastern Europe folk influence. The band has a wealth of experience and is currently a six-piece band complete with brass section. There will be more horns sounding from The Chalk Outlines, a nine-man combo from Western Wales. A festival favourite, this band has supported the likes of the legendary Bad Manners.
Mummyfunk play feel-good tunes with a vinyl style, whilst Roots to Nowhere a northern four-piece from Cheshire playing a mixture of reggae, ska and punk for the dance crowd. Playing a mix of 60’s ska with a contemporary flavour, Leicester’s Splitters are a notoriously incendiary live act.
The Leek Ska Festival takes place on April 27. Doors open at 5pm with a DJ until the bands begin at 7pm. Tickets are available online from the Foxlowe Arts centre. Admission price is £10.
