The new rollercoaster ride, which will be known as The Smiler, features a number of crazy twists, turns and loops. The ride actually breaks the world record for the number of loops in one ride, with its 16 dizzying upside-down moments. The ride reaches speeds of up to 53 mph and features stomach-churning drops of around 60 feet.
Three people who work at Alton Towers as park technicians got the chance to try out the ride before anyone else. Charlotte Tomkiss, one of the lucky staff members, commented on her experience of The Smiler, saying:
“It was terrifying but exhilarating at the same time – I was laughing all the way around.”
Theme parks like Alton Towers rely heavily on promotional material to draw in enough visitors – this includes the use of flyer and banner printing. Nearby Stoke on Trent is home to a number of printing companies that work with local businesses to produce promotional leaflets and Posters to attract custom, much in the same way as the theme parks.
The ride is set to open to the public in the next few weeks; just in time for the peak summer season when school trips and family visitors will descend upon Alton Towers in search of adrenaline-fuelled thrills from the rides in the park.
