The sports complex is being developed as part of Stoke-on-Trent College and will be located in College Road. The development is set to equip the college with the latest equipment as well as creating a new sports hall, gymnasium and workout studio facilities. The aim of the new development is to give students more choice and better facilities when it comes to practicing sport, with a hope that some students will be inspired to train in the sport of their choice to compete at a national level.
The fact that a new sports facility will benefit the health and fitness of local residents is priceless, but it could also mean a boost for the local economy too. Instructors may be recruited and there will also be a degree of promotion required for new classes, including timetables that will need to be printed. This could mean that the new sports centre turns to local printing companies in Stoke-on-Trent which offer services such as flyer printing.
Sean Locker, a student at the College, recently spoke about the new development, saying:
“The building we've got at the moment is an average gym. But the new one is going to offer a lot more. We will have fitness classes, like Zumba and boxercise. It will be a dramatic improvement.”
The Stoke-on-Trent College sport centre is set to open in April next year.
