Mid-Winter Festival celebrated in local park

Stoke-on-Trent residents were recently treated to a dose of winter festivities thanks to a Mid-Winter festival held in Hanley Park.

Musicians gathered to play on the bandstand, which had been decorated by children from a local primary school. Those that performed on the day included the Staffordshire University Singers, Liberty Singers and the Florence Brass Band. The day was billed as being 'fun for all the family' and refreshments were available throughout the performances.

Local community events such as the Mid-Winter Festival rely on the support and attendance of its members. This means it is important that these kinds of events are supported by the right kind of promotional material, which is often produced using poster and flyer printing.

Stoke-on-Trent's Hanley Park plays a major role in the local community and events like the Mid-Winter Festival help to attract new visitors to the area. Stoke-on-Trent City Council is hoping that it will gain lottery funding to the tune of £4.7m to help pay for a major overhaul of the park. It is expected that such a grant will help the park and area to attract even more new visitors; as well as providing better facilities for local people to use. If the funding is granted, the council would also renovate nine buildings of historic significance within the park's grounds. An announcement on funding is expected to be made next year.

The Mid-Winter festival was planned and run by the Friends of Hanley Park organisation.
