A series of streets on a brand new estate, located within the Middleport district of the city, boast names such as Supreme Street, Candy Lane and Angels Way.
The singer was unable to attend the official ceremony unveiling the signs, but the former Take That star did tell the media afterwards that:
“I am so proud to be from Stoke-on-Trent and it’s a real honour to have the streets named after my songs.
“It’s a wonderful legacy in my own home city and one that I am proud to be able to show my children one day.”
Stoke-on-Trent City Council made the decision to name the signs after Williams’ hits, and it represents the final stage in a series of events that the council has put on to mark the singer receiving the Freedom of the City in 2014.
The streets in question will doubtless become popular attractions for fans, and postcard printing in Stoke-on-Trent may be called upon to ensure that souvenirs are available.
The new estate is located close to where Williams grew up and one of the residents of Angels Way – Kimberley Chesters – attended the same school. She stated that, as a lover of the song ‘Angels’, she was delighted by the decision.Get a Free Quote for Signs
