The Watson team has managed to manufacture some ‘landpods’ after working on an experimental design. The so-called landpods are not ordinary tents and they are intended to be deployed about a foot above the ground. Printing services in Stoke-on-Trent may be used to promote the new product.
Steve Watson, who is self-employed in the construction sector, told the Stoke Sentinel:
"We wanted to make sure everyone was catered for. We pride ourselves on creating bespoke products, but if we did get a large order for all of the same style then we have a machine that allows us to manufacture them quickly.”
According to Steve Watson, the design of the pod is related to that of a luxurious alternative to conventional camping. However, an effort has been made to keep costs down, which means that each pod should be more affordable than a ‘glamping’ option. The product has been put together over a period of three years.
Landpods came into being after one of the inventors attended a festival. Jake Watson had returned from the event in a muddy state, and it was this experience that inspired the design. Landpods are fitted with charging facilities for tablets and mobile phones.
