This festival is being called StockSport and the location for it will be St Peter’s Square. The local council is hoping that it can be an event that unites the community, following a difficult couple of years, as well as being a fun way to get some exercise. The races that involve running can be entered by the general public, with 10k and 5k races planned – plus one for children called ‘My First Mile.’
The organisers have also indicated that those participating will get free goodies and these sorts of giveaway Promotional Products supplied by shops in the area can be a way of sparking interest in upcoming activities.
Elise Wilson from the council told the Manchester Evening News that the festival was a chance for residents to come together in their desire for Stockport to be seen as a top town to visit or live in.
She then went on to say:
“So, I hope as many people as possible attend and showcase what Stockport really is all about: it’s a fantastic community.”
The festival will feature stunt displays by BMX riders and will be taking place on 26th June between 9am and 10pm.
