MSA Muay Thai Stockport is throwing its doors open to junior boxers aged 5 and above.
Little ones who want to try Muay Thai boxing for the first time are being welcomed for a free inaugural lesson, to try their hands at the sport.
While Muay Thai boxing is a fierce combat sport at the professional level, classes for juniors will consist of a series of stretching and cardiovascular exercises for warm-up, followed by a grounding in basic Muay Thai techniques.
Instructors will show children methods of self-defence in a friendly and controlled environment. They have pointed out the many benefits of teaching the sport to youngsters, including implementing good habits like respect, discipline, improving fitness and building core strength.
The classes will also be a great opportunity for kids to meet new friends and boost their self-confidence.
Muay Thai boxing can be traced back to the Sukhothai Kingdom of the 13th century, and is now one of the most popular martial arts around the world. The shorts worn by participants are famous for their eye-catching graphic design and colours.
Classes for both children and adults take place throughout the month, with a weekly timetable available on MSA’s website.
The first lesson is offered to both children and adults free of charge. Any classes afterwards will be priced at £4 for junior members, and £5 for adult members.
