This neighbourhood would be given the name Stockport 8 and would contain a mix of housing, leisure amenities, offices and shops. The Plans that have been outlined for it include a total of 1,200 homes, and it would see the project constructed on a stretch of land alongside Stockport Viaduct that covers eight acres.
The Plans are also expected to cost £250 million to see through to fruition, but that appears more viable now that a funding partner is on board. Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC) has confirmed that the English Cities Fund (ECF) will be putting up money towards the scheme.
Stockport MDC Chair Lord Bob Kerslake told the Manchester Evening News that:
“It speaks volumes about the strength of the opportunity in Stockport that, within just one year of starting our search for a new development partner for Stockport 8, we have secured a long-term joint venture with ECF.”
Those behind ambitious regeneration projects like this can turn to places in Stockport that provide brochure printing if they need to create Brochures with images of what they will look like.
The next stage is the submission of the planning application during the summer of next year.
