Stockport Exchange phase four gets underway

Work on phase four of an ambitious Stockport project that will see the construction of a cutting-edge block of office spaces for use by local businesses has now officially started.

This scheme is being called Stockport Exchange, and it involves the building of a block that will cover 64,000 sq ft, as well as a multi-storey car park with room for 399 vehicles. The state-of-the-art building will feature an environmentally friendly ‘living’ wall, solar photovoltaics and charging points for electric cars. Stockport Council and Muse Developments, an urban regeneration firm, are teaming up on the project.

Financing for the project came from the Getting Building Fund, which was set up by the government and delivered by local authorities. In total, £4.2 million was set aside for the completion of this scheme, which is intended to revitalise the centre of Stockport and make it more appealing to businesses.

Those businesses that decide to move into the office spaces once it has been completed will find Stockport shops that Print high-quality Business Cards and other useful services in the area.

Stockport Exchange is being built by Galliford Try, and its Managing Director, Darren Parker, told Specification Online that:

“Galliford Try is delighted to be commencing work on Stockport Exchange Phase Four in partnership with Muse Developments and Stockport Council.”

Parker added that it was key to the company’s Sustainable Growth Strategy.
