This event involves different artists going up against each other to produce artworks from scratch, and it is hosted at venues in locations across the UK. Now, it is coming to Stockport, and the unit that used to house Debenhams has been selected as the venue for it.
The Co-founder of Art Battle, John Macaulay, told the Manchester Evening News that the decision to bring this event to Stockport had been an easy one to make because of the burgeoning independent arts scene it boasts. He went on to say that many top local artists would be taking part in what would be a celebratory evening.
Macaulay then added that:
“We help turn artists into ‘art stars’ and the huge crowd – many of whom have never set foot in an art gallery – really play their part too. It’s art for the people, by the people.”
