Sheffield is set to welcome back a festive market designed to recapture the Victorian era, where the traditional English Christmas began.
Christmas shoppers in Sheffield will be pleased to hear that the city’s beloved Victorian Christmas Market at the Kelham Island Museum is making a welcome return this December. Held at the start of the month, it offers Sheffield residents a chance to pick up presents or stocking stuffers early and get into the Christmas spirit.
Those coming down to the market will find an abundance of local makers and unique items on site. More than 80 stalls will be set up on the day, selling seasonal goods and high-quality gifts. Vendors exhibiting at seasonal markets often include one of their branded Business Cards with purchases to encourage repeat sales.
A wide range of hot food and drink will be on offer. While traditional fare like mulled wine and a hog roast are planned, those looking for less Victorian options can enjoy a slice of pizza from a wood-fired oven.
A family-friendly event, the festival will feature fairground rides for all ages, including the museum’s Kelham Flyer. Carollers, choirs and brass bands will perform on the Hall Stage, and Victorian-era walkabout characters and traditional dancers will be present.
