The Sheffield Design Awards is a biennial event. The Civic Trust and Society of Architects want to get behind the celebration of architecture. Business card printing from Sheffield is useful for those who attend events. At the launch, Ken Cooke, an awards patron, said:
“We all feel more encouraged and enthusiastic if the places in which we live and work reflect our ambitions and hopes for the future as well as conserving those places from the past which we value as part of our identity as proud Sheffielders.”
This October, the winners in the various categories will be unveiled. Nominations from ordinary people will help to determine the destiny of the people’s choice prize. Experts shall be involved in the selection of the best building.
The organisers hope to celebrate examples of inspirational architecture and special open spaces. The idea is that the event can contribute to positive perceptions of Sheffield, while helping to consolidate the prosperity of the city. The Mayor of Sheffield City Region may have a promotional role with regard to future developments.
A key planning officer at Sheffield City Council was present at the launch. Rob Murfin underlined the value of the awards. For him, the awards have an importance in relation to Sheffield as a whole. He is focused on the delivery of a sustainable and liveable place which appreciates its unique heritage.
