Four participants will make their pitches in the Crucible at the final of Sheffield Soup, the aim of which is to promote social projects.
The chief executive at Sheffield Theatres, Dan Bates, told The Star:
“We’re delighted to be hosting the next Sheffield Soup at the Crucible. We hope that being here will enable more people to come along and build on their ever-growing following.”
It is thought that the takings on the door could easily exceed £500. The individual who secures this money as a prize will have received a slot of four minutes in which to push their concept. The destination of the cash is going to be determined by the audience.
Claire Rishbeth is among those eyeing the prize. Rishbeth is behind the project Cycling Without Age (CWA), set up to transport the residents of care homes around parks. She aspires to employ rickshaws with three wheels for this purpose.
The hope is that CWA could make an authentic difference to the lives of elderly people, based on the idea that enhancing contact with the natural world and providing stimulation can be beneficial for health.
The pitching face-off begins on Monday, October 8.
