Norfolk inspires debut novel by local author

Writer Jane E. James has been promoting her first book, a work that has been partly inspired by the Norfolk coast.

The Long Weekend is a novel that traces the experiences of a parent who is hoping to be reconciled with her alienated offspring. James has revealed that she can identify with such emotions on a personal level, and being on the beach at Hunstanton reportedly provided some of the material for the writer.

James has recently engaged in a book signing in The Princes Theatre. She has further events scheduled, including one near Kings Lynn. If she wants to attract more people to the events planned for Downham Market or Gaywood, she could use printing services in Kings Lynn for marketing purposes.

According to the book’s description, the author has tried to generate atmosphere in her narrative by including supernatural and Gothic elements. She has said that she cultivated a sense of mystery by delaying a visit to a lighthouse until after she had completed the text.

James has told the Norfolk East Daily Press:

“The feedback so far has been very positive. Many readers are enjoying the twist at the end.”

Some of the profits made from the book sales at the recent signing have already gone to charity. Save The Children has got £80 from The Long Weekend so far.
