King's Lynn to present heritage programme

An event exploring the architecture and local history of King's Lynn is running this summer as part of a nationwide celebration.

Residents of King’s Lynn keen to catch a glimpse inside some of the town’s oldest buildings will get an opportunity in autumn. This year King’s Lynn is once again participating in Heritage Open Days, England's large annual festival dedicated to culture and history.

Locals and visitors alike can enjoy visiting historical addresses in town entirely for free. The King’s Lynn Civic Society is teaming up with the Red Badge Town Guides and the local borough council to host the event with support from residents and businesses.

Past sponsors have included King’s Lynn Website Design, Guy-Raymond, Lynn News, NSS and Riverbank Bakery, among others. Organisers of events often work with flyer printing services that can create ads that feature the logos of official sponsors.

This year’s programme will let participants visit, gardens, houses, offices, chapels, churches, tunnels and towers that are not typically open for the public.

Alongside visits, attendees can enjoy kids’ activities, re-enactors, exhibitions, dancing, music, miniature trains and much more. Vintage buses will also be running to reach more remote sites in town.

King’s Lynn Heritage Open Day will be held in town on Sunday September 13 as part of Heritage Open Days 2026 which runs from September 11 to September 20.
