March for police cadets in Norfolk

A parade of young cadets has taken place recently in Lynn, marking their achievements in a public fashion.

Four Thetford cadets and 10 from Lynn participated in the parade on the day. Their family and friends watched the event, and several senior officials – including Simon Bailey, the Chief Constable, and Mayor of West Norfolk Barry Ayres – also witnessed the occasion.

The cadets, all of whom were teenagers, have now finished the initial stage of their training programme. The 14 individuals had completed several months of community-based work, and this may well be beneficial for their job prospects in the future.

The scheme has given the participating cadets an idea of what police work can be like. Some of them may want to pursue a career with the police as a result. If the authorities want to attract more publicity for its initiative, they could use poster printing in Kings Lynn.

Chief Inspector David Buckley has told Lynn News that:

β€œThe scheme focuses not just on policing as a profession but encourages our cadets to see the importance of their local community and provides the chance for them to give something back to the area in which they live.”

The cadets should gain a greater insight into a host of topics. These include first aid, cautioning and conflict management.
