Major housing development planned for Kings Lynn

Plans for 94 new homes in Kings Lynn have passed the proposal stage and are well underway.

Now approved by the planning committee of West Norfolk Council, the modular housing development will consist of a combination of two and three bedroom residences with parking spaces. Those petitioning local Council members with development requests can make use of printing services to create a clear breakdown of any schemes for consideration.

The site for the new development was cleared for use in 2002, successfully receiving outline permissions and approval for 126 units for residence. The development area is around 2.5 hectares and was originally a disused work site.

Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk’s Finance & Resources Manager, Dale Gagen stated the development was the “largest modular housing scheme in the country”.

Residents occupying the new development will benefit from a community centre, shopping facilities and a school within walking distance of their homes. Access to the area will be afforded via Sandpiper Way and Morston Drift.

This 94-home project is just one item on the ambitious Nar Ouse Regeneration Area (NORA) roster for revamping Kings Lynn. NORA’s goal is to restore damages incurred by Kings Lynn’s industrial past and create a community and economy in the vicinity that can thrive including 450 to 500 new dwellings and 1,550 new jobs.
