King's Lynn to host swimming training

King's Lynn Triathlon Club is holding a pool training session in the town early in December.

These sessions are held throughout triathlon season and vary in order to complement the training schedule. The December session is designed specifically to be used to build up speed as well as distance.

Two lanes will be available and these will cater for a variety of paces. However, it is noted that these sessions aren’t suitable for beginners as swimmers must be able to complete a 100m forward crawl confidently. Lane 1 will be for those who can complete the distance in two minutes flat and over, whereas Lane 2 is for swimmers who can swim the 100m in under two minutes. All timings are CSS based but most drills are 50m with the average set at between 100m/200m reps.

The swimming drills usually require a pull buoy, which is also suitable for traditional swim sessions, although fins and hand paddles are used occasionally. The pool, is 25m in length, is 0.9m deep at the shallow end and 3.4m at the deep end.

These sessions are adult-only and cost £3 for triathlon club members and £5 for non-members. There is a reservation system in operation but prior booking is only for members. Local events can benefit from flyer printing when it comes to attracting public attention.

The King's Lynn Triathlon Club’s pool training session will take place between 6:30am and 7:15am on 4th December at the St James Swimming Pool in King's Lynn.
