The renowned musician Phil Toms is on the road with his show 'Tubular Bells Live - 50 Years Anniversary Tour' and is due to play King's Lynn at the beginning of June.
Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and composer, Mike Oldfield released the groundbreaking album 'Tubular Bells' on Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Records label in 1973. He began composing music at the tender age of 17. Indeed, he played virtually every instrument on the finished record.
The album later gained widespread recognition around the world when its introductory theme appeared in the horror movie 'The Exorcist'. Eventually proceeding to achieve the accolade of the biggest-selling instrumental album ever.
This show, which was created in 2015, celebrates Mike Oldfield's contribution to music through his successful hits. Phil Toms accompanied by a 10-piece orchestra performs 'Tubular Bells', as originally intended, notable popular singles include 'To France' and 'Shadow on the Wall'.
There will also be a selection of instrumental pieces from Oldfield's subsequent albums such as 'Hergest Ridge', 'The Songs of Distant Earth', 'Ommadawn' and of course 'Tubular Bells 2'.
