The College of West Anglia is to receive new equipment worth more than £1,000 thanks to one of its students.
Jake Betteridge, who volunteers for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), was recently presented with a number of tools that will help the students on his motor vehicle course.
A training specialist for manufacturing firm Gates visited the college last week to provide the equipment, after Betteridge won an apprenticeship magazine competition in which he had to answer a series of questions.
According to Lynn News, Betteridge – who is in his second year of study – praised his supportive lecturers and said the course has given him a “head start” in the industry.
He is an apprentice at the college and also works for a garage in Wells.
The director of the motor vehicle course, Paul Champion, told Lynn News that the 18-year-old has demonstrated a “keen” attitude for his studies, adding that he is sure Betteridge will go on to have a successful career.
Colleges often update their Brochures and Posters to publicise the fundraising efforts of students and teachers, outsourcing to professional brochure printers, in Kings Lynn and other areas of Norfolk, for the highest quality material.
As a volunteer for the RNLI, Betteridge is a member of an in-shore and all-weather team.
The charity made the news recently after it welcomed a donation from its youngest ever fundraiser – an eight-year-old boy who managed to raise £67 using a homemade collection box.
