The residents of Kings Lynn are celebrating after a dilapidated stable was transformed into a state-of-the-art resource facility.
The £150,000 renovation, which was the idea of the Freebridge Community Housing Association, has made barn into one of the area’s most luxurious meeting venues.
Members of the community will be able to use the space for all kinds of projects, many of which will be promoted with the help of local poster printing services. Kings Lynn businesses will also benefit from the development.
A lot of the original features of the barn have been retained by the carpenters and builders who worked on the project. Timber beams and the brick chimney breast have been kept, with a brand new staircase being installed for a modern touch.
The Freebridge board and tenants’ panel will be using the room for meetings and to host other events in the coming years.
Colin Davison, the director of property for the Housing Association, has said he is extremely happy with the end result. He explained that it was the first large project for the builders and carpenters who worked on the project.
The meeting room on the ground floor has retained its high ceilings, along with its original ceiling beams. The loft has been turned into a slightly smaller conference space, with the original chimney breast being kept as a feature of the room.
The building was originally used as a stable during the 1800s before being turned into a garage. Fire, however, had left the building dilapidated.
