Kings Lynn Mart uses vouchers to attract visitors

Kings Lynn Mart, an annual fairground and market held over two weeks in February, recently experienced success thanks to new ways used to draw in punters.

Started over 500 years ago, Kings Lynn Mart was originally a dual-sited market, attracting traders from across the continent. Nowadays, the Mart is seen as more of a funfair, with rides, attractions and stalls promising fun for all the family.

This year, the event’s organisers used printing services to help increase the number of visitors. Print companies in Kings Lynn often work to produce leaflets and Flyers which contain vouchers and promotional offer information for events like this. These vouchers could be redeemed against purchases at the Mart.

Lucy Ruthnum, a writer from Lynn News, went along to this year's Kings Lynn Mart to assess how far £20 plus the aforementioned vouchers would stretch. Lucy concluded that the cash would buy several rides, attempts at games and confectionery to take home – all now long-standing traditions of the Mart.

This year's Kings Lynn Mart was opened by the town’s mayor on 14th February and the following day was deemed Children's Day, which featured a number of rides and attractions at half price.

Kings Lynn Mart is set to return to the region to continue the tradition in February 2014 and poster printing may be used by organisers again to ensure visitor numbers continue to rise. Events like this are valued by the community as they’re known to bring money into the area.
