Ramblers will be hosting a one day course aimed at those wanting to lead walks in King’s Lynn this August.
The Walk Leadership Essentials course is designed for walk leaders and seeks to develop the confidence and skills necessary to lead and plan informative group walks. It should also appeal to a broad spectrum of individuals in a variety of settings. Both existing and new volunteers are welcome to participate as there is no formal requirement of having previous experience.
The course encompasses everything from the various roles and duties to the practicalities involved as well as some of the problems and scenarios that may be encountered. There will be information about insurance, how to report an incident and an examination of issues surrounding safeguarding to ensure that walks remain enjoyable and safe.
There will be ample time to put forward questions and share ideas and experiences with the other walk leaders in attendance. The course is free to attend but it is advisable to book in advance in order to secure a place. Flyer printing campaigns can be effective in drawing a forthcoming event to much wider public attention.
As well as this course, Ramblers also host other similar courses that cover topics such as navigation skills and practical first aid.
Walk Leadership Essentials will take place between 9:30am and 4:30pm on Tuesday 18th August at Providence Community Centre in King's Lynn.
