Kings Lynn exhibition for Star Wars memorabilia

Star Wars fans in Kings Lynn are in for a real treat as an exhibition of artefacts, souvenirs and memorabilia from the well-loved sci-fi franchise recently opened in the town.

‘Star Wars and Me’ explores the extensive personal collection of local fanatic Joe Robinson, who is also curating the event at Kings Lynn Arts Centre.

Joe spoke about his collection and how he wanted to share his passion for Star Wars. He also spoke of how the original films changed the way in which people perceived sci-fi cinema when it was released. He said:

“In the 1970s, most people only had a black and white television. Imagine going from that at home to Star Wars in full colour on the big screen.”

Star Wars and Me features a wide range of toys, merchandise and other collectors’ items that have been picked up by Joe throughout his life. The collection also features some rare Ewok Villages toys and other toys from the Kenna range. The items on display generally date back to the 1970s and 1980s, which were the glory years for the Star Wars franchise.

One of the most sought-after pieces of memorabilia from any film is an original poster advertising its cinema release; in good condition, these are known to fetch top dollar. The exhibition also features its own showcase of film advertisements which have been produced using poster printing.

The exhibition is on until June 1st and is free to attend.
