Kings Lynn could get new infrastructure

King’s Lynn may receive a transport update as a result of Plans for a new business park in the area.

Council leaders have outlined the need for better transport links for King’s Lynn as part of a strategy to make the most of Nar Ouse Business Park. The construction of a railway station or improved roads could increase demand for business card printing within King’s Lynn. Councillor Alan Sampson has said:

“With the development in the south of the borough and beyond, having the station there to service around 5,000 jobs would take a lot of traffic off the road and it would save Lynn town centre. I think it would be putting down a marker to do it.”

The business park in question might get enterprise zone status. This would have a knock-on effect on business rates and this could stimulate the local economy. Members of a committee of the borough council have said that up to 2,000 new jobs might be generated by the development.

Councillor Alistair Beales has stressed the importance of the point about business rates. He has also underlined that the site is not being used adequately at the moment.

Nonetheless, other councillors have expressed reservations about the project if the transport side of the proposals is not addressed thoroughly. In particular, they have mentioned that the future of the A47, A17 and A10 needs to be secured.
