Kings Lynn breast cancer charity celebrates 18th birthday

A charity in Kings Lynn that helps to support survivors of breast cancer recently marked its 18th birthday with a party highlighting its achievements to date.

The Lynn Breast Cancer Aftercare Support Group helps a number of women in the region to get their lives back on track after recovering from the illness, through exercise, information, friendship and laughter.

The party that marked the anniversary of the charity was held at the group's headquarters at the Masonic Hall, which is located on Hamberg Way. The event followed the regular weekly support group which takes place at the venue, and featured a buffet that was enjoyed by around 50 guests.

One of the volunteers at the charity, Jasmine Fulcher, spoke about the group and how it uses information to help its members. She said:

"It’s a very happy environment with a lot of chatting. When you’re diagnosed it can be scary and the hospital gives out packs with our leaflet offering support services.

"Women are invited to join the group, but our volunteers will also call them to offer advice. The group ranges from mid-30s to 80s, some exercise is done sitting and some standing, some women just come to meet others who are going through the same thing."
