Exeter to host candlelit music concert
Music lovers in Exeter are set to be able to enjoy a magical experience next month, with the news that a chamber orchestra will perform a candlelit concert in the town.
London Concertante is considered to be among the finest chamber ensembles in the world. The orchestra has been performing across the globe for over three decades, and now it will be coming to Exeter. This will be a truly special event, which will feature performances of three classic works. They are ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ overture by Mozart, ‘The Four Seasons’ by Vivaldi and ‘The Lark Ascending’ by Vaughan Williams.
The chosen venue for the concert will be the stunning Exeter Cathedral, with lit candles adding to the atmosphere. The result promises to be something extraordinary.
Simon Hewitt-Jones is set to be the leading violinist and the works will enable him to shine. ‘The Lark Ascending’ in particular is noted for its solo violin sequences. Hewitt-Jones has teamed up with orchestras across the world during his career, including the Ramallah Orchestra in Jerusalem.
