Regina area farms invited to be part of new initiative

Saskatchewan counts on agriculture for a significant amount of its economy, and Regina area farmers are being encouraged to add their names to the list of operations that will be opening their gates to the public for an upcoming event.

The province will be celebrating its first Saskatchewan Open Farm Day this coming August. This day has been designed to offer members of the public a sneak peek into where their food on their plates comes from, while also showcasing the importance of the province’s rural spaces.

Any Regina farmers who would like to get involved can submit their application to the organizers. To streamline the process of applying, the planners have created an online application process. One of the items they will supply to participating farms is Open Farm Days host buttons, and these Promotional Products have been prepared so that it will be easy for visitors to identify a location's host or volunteers. The activity will run for two days, and each farm or other participating venue will be able to access a variety of online resources to assist them.

The Saskatchewan Open Farm Day will provide the opportunity for Regina area agricultural operations to showcase themselves to the public on August 10th and 11th. The final date for a farm to submit an application to take part is May 31st.
