The $278 million project was announced in July of 2012, and work commenced in June of 2014. Currently, 22 percent of the stadium is complete and the project is proceeding well. There are 190 skilled manual workers at the construction site daily.
The design of the stadium is being made very close to the actual build. Sean Hamelin, manager of PCL, the construction company working on the project, explained:
“This is a very challenging project. You don’t build a stadium every day.”
The weather has been cold for the workers, but has improved over the past few weeks. According to Hamelin, the warmer weather helps with productivity and making work proceed faster. Work on the lower bowl will be commencing this month.
Hamelin said that since the project started in June, 12,000 cubic meters of concrete, 1,200 tons of steel, and 189,700 of logged work hours are the current statistics for the new project. The new football stadium is being developed on Evraz Place, Regina’s exhibition grounds.
Once the new football stadium is complete and the season starts, printing companies can be a great benefit in helping announce upcoming football games and events through flyer and poster printing.
