Lieutenant Governor to host New Years Levee in Regina

One of Regina’s most officious traditions will be returning this New Year’s Day, as the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan will receive guests in Government House as part of the annual Levee.

Visitors will have the chance to meet and speak with W. Thomas Molloy, currently serving in the ceremonial role of Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan – the provincial equivalent of Canada’s Governor-General.

Younger visitors will be able to meet storybook princesses like Cinderella and Snow White, although their role in the government is unknown. Children will also be able to enjoy the Levee Craft Room, which can help them create their own crown and festive items.

Music will be provided throughout by the Marie-Veronique Borque Trio, pianist Jim Gallagher, and harpist Glenna Stewart. Visitors will also be able to tour historic Government House, which includes sections like the Amedee Forget Museum and the Queen Elizabeth II Art Gallery.

It currently contains a feature exhibit on the history of Government House featuring materials from the provincial archives, entitled “The Palace on the Prairies.” The event is one of several throughout the year. Attractions like this are often advertised through brochure printing and Promotional Products, as well as online listings and word-of-mouth.

The levee will take place on the afternoon of January 1, from 1pm-4pm. Refreshments will be provided.
