One of Canada’s longest-lasting and most successful folk-rock bands will be coming to Regina for a special performance this April.
The event is a make-up concert for a Regina show originally scheduled for December that had to be postponed. It is one of just a few spring tour dates for the veteran group, and their first of the year outside of their native Ontario.
The show will also feature supporting acts Jason Plumb and The Willing. Concerts like this are often advertised through poster printing campaigns. Prairie fans will be anticipating hits like ‘After the Rain’ and ‘Hasn’t Hit Me Yet’ as well as songs from more recent albums like 2016’s ‘1000 Arms’.
Blending rock, country, folk and roots sounds, Blue Rodeo was formed in 1984 by high school friends Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor, who both perform vocals and guitar, and bassist Bazil Donovan. The current incarnation also features drummer Glenn Milchern, keyboardist Mike Boguski, and Colin Cripps, who plays a variety of instruments including pedal steel and the mandolin.
In its 35 years, the band has released 15 albums and dozens of singles, and has received honours such as the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame, and induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
Blue Rodeo will perform at Regina’s Brandt Centre on April 2.
At the time of writing, this event was still scheduled to take place.
