Stoney Creek set to get cheesy vegan style

An upcoming workshop will show that cheese does not have to be dairy, so vegans can also enjoy this popular ingredient on its own or used in a recipe.

This Stoney Creek area class will show how easy it can be to create some tasty plant-based cheese, right in a home kitchen. Chef Fraser will prepare vegan cheese in a variety of styles including ricotta, cream cheese, cheddar and gouda, and the group will get to taste test the products they create.

The students in the class can ask Chef Fraser any questions they have, and they will find out how to substitute vegan cheese for milk-based cheese in their favorite recipe. While they learn, they will be welcome to enjoy a 12oz pour of the beer of their choice, and the event promises to be a lot of fun.

Those who register for this type of workshop often want to try the recipes they will learn at home. Offering recipe cards, cook Books and other materials can make this a whole lot easier, and Print shops can work with the organizers of the season to choose ones that are a good fit for the occasion.

Hamilton’s Grain & Grit Beer Co. will be hosting this cheese making event on December 8. It will take place from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm.
