Stoney Creek session to be all about making macaroons
Macaroons are a confection that trace their origins back to France, and a workshop will give those who live in Stoney Creek some hands-on experience in baking these popular treats.
The class, which is intended for those who are age 12 and up, will bring members of the public into the kitchen at Chocolate Tales Studio. Here, they will learn the steps to follow when making filled macaroons, and the final products will be kosher and both gluten and nut free.
The instructor of the session will provide a history of French-style macaroons as well as the science involved in their preparation. The students will help make the batter, prepare assorted flavours of ganache, and then bake and fill the cookies. When it’s time to leave, the learners will all walk away with some fancy packaging for their creations, as well as the recipe so that they can prepare the dish at home. Stationery printers can supply these, and they can be laminated so that they will last for a long time and withstand any kitchen spillages.
The fee to register for the macaroon making workshop starts at $110, and the venue for the activity is located at 430 York Boulevard in Hamilton. It is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm sharp, and will be on offer on June 26.
