Stoney Creek residents to vote for Citizen of the Year

The voting window for Stoney Creek’s Citizen of the Year is now open. Residents will have the opportunity until March 29 to nominate someone in the community who they feel deserves to win the award.

Citizen of the Year is not the only award that residents can vote on. They can also nominate their peers for Junior Citizen of the Year, Outstanding Small Business of the Year and Outstanding Large Business of the Year.

The awards will be handed out during the 45th annual Community Awards gala on May 9. During the event, which is a presentation of the Stoney Creek Chamber of Commerce, a Legacy and Community Recognition Award will also be given out.

The Community Awards are given to citizens and businesses that have shown ‘outstanding community services’. Those nominating for the Citizen of the Year award must describe the services the person has provided for the community and list examples of personal attributes and achievements. For the business awards, the winners must exhibit exemplar business practices, strong community relationships, sustainable growth, and first-rate customer service.

Winners of such awards, especially the business honors, could work with Stoney Creek printing companies to help publicize the prize. For example, they could adjust office Stationery to list the award under a logo or could design and Print a flyer to send out to current customers. Whatever the victors do, it is an important award to win and could gain them more customers in the future.
