Stoney Creek joins rest of Canada in supporting Fort McMurray
Stoney Creek, along with the rest of Hamilton, recently made a donation to help support those who live in Fort McMurray.
According to Mayor Fred Eisenberger, he called his colleagues in both Edmonton and Fort Mac to find out what type of assistance they could use the most. It was decided that a financial contribution could do the most good, and the city made the decision to give $25,000 to the relief efforts. Along with this, Hamilton’s acting fire chief and paramedic chief volunteered to help.
Though both of the mayors from Alberta said that the offers from the two first responders were appreciated, neither one was necessary at this point in time.
The financial help form the community will combine with that raised by the Red Cross and other sources from all over the country. The donations ranged from small amounts from children who donated their allowances, to large amounts form sports teams, businesses, and relief organizations. Poster printing can be used in situations like this to help get the word out to the public about what they can do to help make a difference in the lives of those affected.
Anyone who is interested in making a contribution of their own can do so by visiting the Red Cross’s website and following the links provided.
