Stoney Creek area to find out about fireflies

Plants, animals, plankton and fungi are just some of the organisms that exhibit bioluminescence, and some that call the Stoney Creek area home will be the stars of an upcoming outing.

Tickets for the Fireflies, Bioluminescence and Native Plants activity that is on the agenda for Blue Dot Acres in Burlington may be reserved now. The function will take place in the evening, and it will arm those who participate with knowledge they can use to lend a helping hand to Mother Nature.

The session will open with a talk that discusses fireflies and the important role native plants play in their survival. Everyone will receive a native plant to take home for their own garden balcony to help make these insects feel welcome, and a face painter will paint the guests’ faces with a UV paint design. They can spend some time in the outdoor lounge area, and once the sun goes down, everyone will be invited to participate in a firefly walk.

Each family that wishes to be part of the experience will only need to purchase one ticket, and entry times will be staggered to accommodate as many people as possible. A brochure printing company may be tasked with crafting informational materials that may add even more value to an organized activity like this.

The Fireflies, Bioluminescence and Native Plants event will be offered on July 7th. The presentation will begin at 8:00 pm.
