Stoney Creek area site to reopen kitchen garden

A Stoney Creek area historic site will soon be reopening its Kitchen Garden for another year, and to celebrate the occasion, it is set to host a special activity.

Dundurn National Historic Site in Hamilton will be welcoming one and all for a free outdoor event that will introduce the public to the plants in its Kitchen Garden. This activity is included in the general admission price to the venue.

Visitors to the garden will be led through its newly planted beds by a series of prompts that will be prominently posted. This will be kid-friendly, and will encourage them to discover the new plants that will be popping up. The Kitchen Garden grows vegetables, herbs and other culinary species, and it will remain open until the final harvest is complete at Thanksgiving. It will be closed each Monday, however.

A demonstration garden gives those who are curious and would like to learn more about home horticulture a chance to do so. Row markers, plant tags, journals and other materials an organization might give to visitors of such gardens can all be prepared by a local printing services company.

The Kitchen Garden at Dundurn National Historic Site will be hosting its opening day on May 20th. Visitors are welcome to drop by between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
