Reception in local museum set to celebrate the opening of a new season

The McMaster Museum of Art is holding an opening reception this September, to introduce the public to its new exhibitions and to kick off the autumn season.

There are four exhibitions that will represent the autumn season. ‘Ian Johnston: the Chamber’ features a large art installation. ‘Workingman's Dead: Lives of the Artists’ highlights the artwork of Leopold Plotek, while ‘Graham Todd: Imaginary Spaces’ will showcase the artist's sculptures. Further, ‘Art of the Book’ will be presented by Rabbi Bernard Baskin.

The latter will have a separate reception later in the month, but attendees of this one will have a chance to tour the exhibit. Rabbi Baskin will be speaking at the later reception. In addition, there will be another tour of the exhibit, along with a bookmaking workshop.

The reception will likely attract many art lovers from the Stoney Creek and Hamilton area. Flyers obtained from local stationery printers will help to market the continuing exhibitions.

‘The Chamber’ and ‘Workingman's Dead’ are showing at the McMaster Museum of Art from August 28th to October 25th. ‘Imaginary Spaces’ and ‘Art of the Book’ will run from September 11th until December 20th. The opening reception will take place on September 11th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Admission is free, and the museum is open Tuesday through Saturday. Call 905-525-9140 to learn more about upcoming events.
