What's Happening in Stoney Creek, ON…

Piece of history to be recreated in Stoney Creek

An event has been planned for Stoney Creek that will give those who come out a chance to see history recreated.

Battlefield House Museum and Park National Historic Site will be hosting its annual recreation of a battle that is considered by many to be one of the most significant of the War of 1812.

The reenactment of the Battle of Stoney Creek will feature actors in historically accurate costumes demonstrating what life would have been like, both on the battlefield and off. There will be soldiers in uniform as well as settlers, merchants, and more.

Demonstrations will be given of traditional arts such as candle making, cooking, blacksmithing, and dancing, and those who come out will have a chance to purchase handcrafted items from those who made them. Food will also be available, and there will be live entertainment and games as well.

Along with the enactment, the public can visit the museum and historic site to learn even more about the area’s history. Wide format printing can be used to create banners and other signage that fits in with the overall theme of the weekend.

The Battle of Stoney Creek Re-Enactment will take place June 4 and 5 at Battlefield House Museum and Park in Stoney Creek. It will begin at 10:00 am on both days, and further details are available on the event’s website.
