The Hamilton Naturalists’ Club recently made an agreement with Waterford Sand and Gravel Ltd to lease a site for the sanctuary.
The new location is on 16 hectares of meadow located beside a Stoney Creek quarry, and next to the Vinemount Swamp and the Dofasco 2000 Trail. The property is amid Ridge Road and Mud Street East.
Due to the fact that the CP rail line will be running through the property along with a local municipal drain, the meadow will not be transformed into a quarry.
According to the president of the Hamilton Naturalists’ Club, Michael Fischer, members of the club are ‘thrilled’ at the new development in the community. He commented:
“The club hopes to increase the public’s knowledge of the natural environment of the southern Ontario meadow habitat and the birds found there.”
A reputable Print company can be a benefit to spreading information to the public by offering brochure and flyer printing services to distribute throughout the community to inform the public.
The lease for the property will be for 24 years and will be approximately $10 a year according to Bill Kester, spokesperson for Waterford Sand and Gravel Ltd. He will not disclose the precise terms of the lease.Get a Free Quote for Print
