What's Happening in Stoney Creek, ON…

HMCS Haida to commemorate D-Day landing

In 1945, Canadians were among the troops who landed on Juno Beach in France as part of the Normandy Invasion. This June, an event will mark the occasion with a variety of programming, and residents of Stoney Creek are welcome to be among the crowd.

The plans for the ‘From Sea to Storm: Remembering D-Day’ celebration include many interactive activities that have been chosen because they offer a glimpse into what the day was like for those that had their boots on the sand. Admission is free, and the whole family is welcome to be part of this historic event.

The schedule for the weekend includes demonstrations as well as displays of military vehicles that were used by Canada and other allied countries during the second world war. An outdoor screening of the movie ‘Storming Juno’ is also on the agenda, as are presentations and a light and sound show.

To thank those who attend this historical event, the first 75 parties to arrive will be given a specially designed item to commemorate the occasion. These types of corporate gifts are just one of the items that a print shop can prepare for events like this.

MHCS Haida National Historic Site will be marking the start of the D-Day landing on June 5th and 6th. All ages are encouraged to attend and learn more about this piece of their country's history.
