What's Happening in Stoney Creek, ON…

Heritage celebration coming in June

The 37th annual Ancaster Heritage Days festival is set to be held over the course of six days this June.

Activities will be taking place at a number of different venues in the community. The first planned event is the Ancaster Mill Race, which is a 5K or 10K run.

On June 13, there will be a parade that will travel along Wilson and Academy. Other events happening that day include a soap box derby and a dog show. The latter is for children aged 15 and under and their pets, and the animals will be competing for such titles as Best Dressed, Vocal Performance, Best Dancer, and Terrific Pet Tricks.

For the children, Kids’ World will be held in front of the library, with lots of activities and musical entertainment from Andrew ‘Too Tall’ Queen. For adults, there is a wine and cheese opening reception at the Fieldcote Memorial Museum on June 11 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm to celebrate the exhibition ‘Shades of Grey: the Art of Black and White Photography’.

Vendors will also be on hand during the week to sell arts and crafts and food.

People from all over the area, including Stoney Creek, will probably visit the festival. To spread the word, local print companies may be asked to provide flyers for advertising.

Ancaster Heritage Days takes place from June 9 - 14. For more information, visit the event website.
