Nepean charity golf tourney to celebrate anniversary

The Cure Diabetes Golf Tournament will be holding its 10th annual event this August, marking a decade of contributing to medical research.

The friendly tournament features a shotgun start across a full 18-hole course. Registration fees include a barbecue lunch and buffet dinner, as well as eligibility for prizes for top finishers. The dinner will include awards competitions and special speakers. Guests can also register for just the dinner for a smaller fee. There will also be on-course contests which golfers can enter into for an extra fee.

The course will be at Nepean’s Manderlay on the Green Golf Course, taking up two of the club’s nine-hole tracks. Registration fees will include an electronic golf cart to travel from hole to hole.

Proceeds from the event have gone towards the Cure Diabetes Association and the Ottawa Hospital Foundation over the past decade, with the goal of finding a cure for type I and II diabetes. Last year’s edition sold out, with thousands of dollars raised. Funds are also raised from local businesses who sponsor holes and other components of the day-long event. This fundraising typically involves business logos being featured on signage and banner printing.

The 2025 Cure Diabetes Golf Tournament will take place at the Manderla on the Green Golf Course in Nepean on August 3. Registration is required in advance.
