Vancouver showcases skills of local rose growers
Growing roses combines art and science, and Vancouver enthusiasts and those who just admire the beauty of these flowers may both enjoy an upcoming activity.
The 67th annual Biennial Rose Show has been organized by the Vancouver Rose Society, and it will be held in mid-June. It is anticipated that there will be hundreds of freshly cut blooms grown in the local area on display, and admission will be free.
The attendees at the function will have the chance to visit the show tables so they can admire the hundreds of named cultivars that will be in the mix. The judges of the activity will follow standards set by the Canadian Rose Society, and there will be awards presented for “Best in Show” and in other categories as well. There will also be workshops, classes, and a photography competition. Anyone with questions can stop by the Information Table, and details about membership in the Society will be shared. Rose flowers and plants will be for sale as well.
Organizers of a competition may choose to have special awards created for the occasion. The graphic design department at a company that prepares corporate gifts will be able to help.
The 67th Biennial Rose Show will be hosted by the Vancouver Rose Society on June 15th. VanDusen Botanical Gardens Floral Hall will be the venue for the day.
