Vancouver clean-up project seeks helping hands
Kitsilano Beach is a local favourite, and Vancouver residents have been asked to pitch in with a clean-up project that will give it lots of TLC.
The beach will be getting a good spring clean thanks to the efforts of the volunteers who take part in a project planned for early June. It will take place in the afternoon, and it is being co-hosted by Island Life Apparel and Shoreline Rescue Club.
This free activity will see volunteers fan out to collect litter and other debris, and the supplies needed to tackle the job will be provided. The facilitators will give a brief address to the group before the clean-up gets started. This will be a time for the attendees to meet others who care about the environment, and to add a dash of excitement, there will be prize draws throughout the afternoon, and promotional products supplied by sponsors will be offered to the helpers to thank them for their work.
A community clean-up can make it easy for the public to get their feet wet when it comes to environmental stewardship. Many events include a sponsorship program, and a company may choose to order corporate gifts in kind from a local printer to donate to a cause.
Kitsilano Beach will be holding its spring clean on June 1st. Those who are interested are asked to arrive at 1499 Arbutus Street by 12:00 pm.
