Edmonton autism workshop to explore sibling perspective

A diagnosis of autism can impact an entire family, and an Edmonton workshop will explore this from the perspective of any siblings involved.

This activity for the brothers and sisters of children on the spectrum will be taking place in March, and it is one of the offerings provided by Children’s Autism Services of Edmonton. Its run time will be one hour.

To help make sure the function is age appropriate, there are three different sessions on offer. The day will open with one for kids from ages six to nine, with the next being for those between the ages of 10 and 13. The morning will wrap up with a workshop geared towards youth aged 14 to 17, and only siblings are permitted to participate.

The participants in the activity will have a chance to be supported all on their own, and they will also be able to meet others in the same boat. It is intended to be a fun event, and they can share experiences, gather information and enjoy themselves.

Community-based workshops give the public an opportunity to learn and meet new people. A flyer printing company will be able to help get the word out about such events to anyone who is interested.

These support sessions for siblings have been scheduled for March 19th. The first will begin at 9:00 am, and in response to Covid, they will all take place online.
